Primary Purpose:

 

Assist in receiving, storing, issuing and delivering of equipment, tools, and supplies, maintaining inventory control, and doing the required record keeping.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification:

High school diploma or GED

Valid Texas driver’s license (Class B) and excellent driving record

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to operate hand tools and mechanical equipment

Ability to operate personal computer

Good math skills and some knowledge of inventory control methodology

Ability to operate light truck and fork lift

Oral and written communication skills

Ability to work with minimum supervision and use judgment to allocate time

Average degree of manual dexterity

Regular Attendance required

Ability to lift and move 60 pounds

 

Experience:

Inventory Control, receiving, shipping and warehouse experience

 

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

Receiving

 

  1. Verify accuracy of shipments by counting, weighing, or measuring items and comparing size, weight, description, and code numbers with information on invoice or packing slip and purchase orders; record any discrepancies or damage.

 

  1. Open crates and other containers using hand tools to unpack items received. Inspect shipments for damage and defects.

 

Inventory

 

  1. Move inventory to various locations manually and by operating mechanical equipment, including fork lift, pallet jack, and handcart.

 

  1. Sort and store items according to established procedures.

 

  1. Maintain computerized inventory records, take physical count periodically, and check against inventory control totals using computer.
  2. Requisition additional supplies from purchasing department as needed.

 

  1. Maintain custody receipts for items being repaired and loaned out temporarily.

 

 

 

Distribution

 

  1. Read and fill requisitions for stock items. Verify accuracy of orders pulled.

 

  1. Drive truck to various locations to deliver materials. Obtain authorized signature for supplies requested.

 

  1. Load and unload delivery truck by hand or by use of hand truck.

 

Safety

 

  1. Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles according to prescribed safety procedures.

 

  1. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, carrying, etc.

 

  1. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.

 

  1. Ability to lift and move 50 pounds.

 

Other

 

  1. Detect needed repairs on vehicles and equipment by following established inspection procedures.

 

  1. Must have regular attendance on the job.

 

  1. Other duties assigned

Equipment Used:

 

Personal computer, hand tools, forklift, ladder, dolly, scaffolding, pallet jack, hand truck, and light truck (less than 26,000 lbs.)

 

 

Working Conditions:

 

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching; heavy lifting and carrying. Work outside and inside; work around machinery with moving parts; work around moving objects or vehicles; work on ladders and scaffolding. Exposure to dampness and humidity and slippery or uneven walking surfaces.
