Job Title: Food Service Equipment Technician
Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Primary Purpose:
Assist in maintaining the district’s food service facilities and equipment in a condition of operating excellence so that full operational use may be made at all times.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Certification for Refrigerant Recovery
Special knowledge/ Skills:
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbally)
- Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
- Ability to use hand and power tools
- Ability to work independently
Minimum Experience:
- 5 years experience in commercial kitchen/refrigeration equipment maintenance repair and installations.
Other Requirements:
- Hold a clear and valid Texas driver’s license and maintain a good driving record
- Pass the required Criminal History Check
- Submit Fingerprints
- Outstanding attendance record
Major Responsibilities:
- Assumes responsibility for safe condition of kitchen equipment in the facilities owned or operated by the District
- Installs and services all kitchen equipment as directed by work orders assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Services and maintains the following equipment:
- Walk-in freezers and refrigerators, food mixers and food processors, dish machines, proofing cabinets, convection steam cookers, convection ovens (electric and gas), reach-in refrigerators and freezers, deep fryers, serving line well heaters, slicers, waste disposals, ice machines and ranges (electric and gas).
- Assist the Maintenance Supervisor on a regular basis for purposes of preventative maintenance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
- On-site attendance is a requirement of the position in order for technician to provide the necessary maintenance on specified equipment
- Refrain from texting while driving and/or operating heavy equipment
Safety
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing. Operate equipment and use tools according to established safety procedures.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
- Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance as required.

Meters, gauges, ladders, hoists, hand and power tools, and other tools of the trade.
Mental Demands: Reading; ability to understand verbal instructions, maintain emotional control under stress and demanding situations.
Motions: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving
Liftings: Heavy lifting and carrying (of up to 50 lbs) on a daily basis.
Environment: work outside and inside; exposure to hot and cold temperatures; work on slippery or uneven surfaces; frequent exposure to dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; work weekends/irregular hours as directed; able to be called-out for emergencies; frequent district-wide travel
