Job Title: HVAC Maintenance Technician
Reports to: Facility Maintenance Supervisor

Primary Purpose:
Under general supervision, perform preventive and general maintenance of all heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems (HVAC).
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High School diploma or GED
Valid Texas driver license
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Have a general knowledge of HVAC and equipment maintenance.
Basic knowledge of voltmeter.
Work with basic hand and power tools.
Work on extension ladders and stepladders.
Work with heights and under floors.
Electrical knowledge a plus.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work as a member of a team or independently.
Ability to appropriately communicate with campus administration.
Other Requirements:
An outstanding attendance record
Experience:
Two to Five Years
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Preventive and general maintenance of HVAC and related equipment:
- Replacement of filters in a/c units and other equipment
- Check, replace, or adjust belts on equipment as needed.
- Wash and clean condensers and evaporators.
- Inspect equipment for damage or other problems.
- Repair condensate drains as needed.
- Lubricate bearings and motors as needed.
- Establish a current filter list and maintain it.
- Order filters from supplier
- Assist other technicians as needed.
- Check and maintain exhaust fans
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Energy Manager.
- Maintain inventory of District owned tools and equipment.
- Respond to emergency calls as needed.
- Follow all district policies, including no texting while operating heavy equipment.
- Work appropriately with other departments.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
Equipment Used:
Extension and stepladders, power tools, hand tools, multi-meter, high lifts, ropes and other types of lifting equipment.
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands: Reading and basic math, maintain emotional control under stress and demanding situations.
Physical Demands: Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting of components weighting up to 50 lbs or more. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions outside and inside. Routine exposure to hot and cold. Work up high and under buildings. Work in tight conditions.
